Due to Corona Virus (COVID-19) First Capitol Auction Inc. will be conducting our auctions Online Only. We will still be open to the public for preview days providing compliance with the CDC and state regulations regarding all safety precautions for employees as well as customers. Our next online-only auction is scheduled to open for bidding Friday September 18th. Heavy Equipment will start September 18th at 9:00AM and will close September 22nd at 10:00am. Fence line will open September 19th at 9:00 am and close September 23rd at 9:00am. Vehicles will start September 19th at 10:00 am and close September 23rd at 10: 00am.

About Us

First Capitol Auction, Inc. originated in a small warehouse in Benicia, California, in May, 1985. We selected our company’s name to acknowledge the community’s historic role in housing California’s first capitol building.

Eric Smith, the founder of First Capitol, was soon joined by partner Brian McKissack. From the beginning, Smith and McKissack based their business model upon auctioning construction equipment, vehicle and other asset seizures, for the benefit of public entities, as well as rental yards and lending institutions. Through hard work, focus, and creativity the partners soon outgrew their Benicia facility and moved to their current 10-acre site in Vallejo, California.
